Celebrating World Breastfeeding Week – From My Heart to Yours

This past week has been extraordinary.
Four homebirths in seven days.
Four babies arriving gently into loving arms.
Four mothers drawing their newborns close and, with almost no interruption, beginning to feed—naturally, instinctively, beautifully.
I truly believe that physiological birth—at home, in a safe and familiar space, supported by a wise woman midwife—lays the strongest foundation for breastfeeding to flourish.
When birth is allowed to unfold in its own rhythm, without hurry or unnecessary interference, the mother’s body and the baby’s instincts work in perfect harmony.
Breastfeeding is more than nourishment.
It is love.
It is connection.
It is skin against skin, heartbeat against heartbeat, eyes locked in quiet wonder.
It is the unspoken promise: we are together, and we belong to each other.
In a world that moves too fast, these moments remind me of the power of slowing down.
Of trusting the body.
Of protecting those first precious hours, when milk, love, and connection flow without interruption.
World Breastfeeding Week is a celebration of this bond—but also a reminder that support matters. Gentle words, skilled hands, and a watchful, loving presence can help turn those first feeds into a lifelong source of comfort and strength.
To the mothers I’ve walked beside this week: thank you for letting me witness your first moments together.
And to every family beginning their breastfeeding journey: may it be steady, sweet, and filled with the quiet joy of holding your baby close.
